Biography:
He graduated in 1975, in Naval Architecture, from Istanbul Technical University. He then obtained MSc and PhD degrees, in 1976 and 1980, respectively, from University College London. He then joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Brunel University, until 1993, when he moved to the University of Southampton, Department of Ship Science. He became Professor of Hydroelasticity in 1999, a position he held until his retirement in 2018. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. He has extensive experience of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems and, in particular, hydrodynamics, hydroelasticity, including slamming, seakeeping, CFD of fluid-flexible structure interactions, structural dynamics, manoeuvring and stability. He has developed a wide range of software relevant to these subject areas. |
